Two Mini Bigfoot Sightings in Pennsylvania Puzzle Witnesses in Indiana and Westmoreland Counties Within Two Days
PITTSBURGH, PA — Two separate sightings in southwest Pennsylvania are turning heads because the creatures were described as tiny Bigfoot-like figures, not the towering version most people imagine. Witnesses in Indiana County and Westmoreland County said they saw upright, hairy beings that stood around three and a half to five feet tall.
The accounts, both reported in mid-August, came from different people in different places and described similar details: dark faces, long arms, and a walking style that looked surprisingly human. No photos or other physical proof surfaced, but the stories are already adding another odd chapter to the region’s long-running lore.
What the First Witness Said
The first encounter was reported to researcher Stan Gordon and happened on a farm in Indiana County on Aug. 18. According to the witness, she was finishing a chore near a farm building when she heard something being tossed around nearby. When she stepped outside, she noticed one figure crouched behind trees about 60 feet away and then a second one close by.
She said the two figures rose up and moved around as if they were playing before running off on two legs. Gordon said the witness described them as covered in straggly light brown hair, with dark brown faces, no clear necks and heads that seemed to rest directly on their shoulders. She also said they made cooing sounds and had slender arms that reminded her of a young child’s.
The moment ended when she sneezed and the figures appeared to notice her. She ran back home and told her husband. Afterward, she said the family dog would not go outside, and she later heard a sound she thought matched the cooing again at night.
A Second Sighting on a Rural Road
The next night, around 8 p.m. on Aug. 19, another witness reported something unusual in Westmoreland County. This time, the sighting came from a driver on a rural road who said she saw a hair-covered creature running up a hill.
She said the creature was visible for only a few seconds, but it was enough time for her to estimate its height at about five feet. Gordon noted her description included charcoal-gray hair, a dome-shaped head, no apparent neck, long arms that swung while it moved, and a slightly flat nose with flared nostrils. She also said the creature appeared to spin around and retreat down the hillside, showing only one clearly visible leg before disappearing.
Unlike many viral wildlife claims, this one did not come with a blurry photo, video clip or any other supporting evidence. That leaves the sightings in the category of firsthand accounts: intriguing, but unresolved.
Why the Area Gets Attention
Gordon said the general area has a history of Bigfoot and UFO reports, which helps explain why these new claims drew attention so quickly. Even so, he said there is nothing tying the two recent sightings to any earlier reports in the region.
That uncertainty is part of the appeal for Bigfoot watchers. The details are unusual enough to invite speculation, but they are still rooted in ordinary settings: a farm, a roadside hill and two people who say they saw something they cannot fully explain. For now, the mystery rests on memory alone, with no footprint cast, no image and no confirmed explanation for what the witnesses believe they saw.
